PRINCETON — If you are hankering for some unique salads or sandwiches in a casual, old-fashioned dining atmosphere, then the newly-opened Kramer’s Kitchen on South Main Street in Princeton just might be the place for you.Kramer’s Kitchen, a sandwich shop, opened on March 17 at 421 S. Main St. and features uniquely created sandwich recipes, homemade potato chips in many different flavors, and cheesecake. Kramer’s Kitchen is owned and operated by the Kramer family, including Mary and Roger, along with their children, Ken and Mindy. The storefront was opened to help expand their catering business, Kramer’s Chuck Wagon and Catering, and to start up a sandwich shop. Mary Kramer said she has enjoyed having a storefront during the first two and one-half months that Kramer’s Kitchen has been open for business.
“I love seeing the people enjoying their food,” she said. “I also like seeing visitors come in here from out of town, even out of state, and finding out where they’re from.”The restaurant, which features country-style decor, hosts many antiques on the shelves lining each wall and in the restaurant, including a washboard, a TV from the ’60s, an antique stove, and a refrigerator with a foot pedal that is used to open its door.“We wanted it to be an old-fashioned country theme,” said Mary. Her son, Kenny, who works at the sandwich shop and designed many of the store’s signature sandwiches, agreed.“We wanted people to have something to look at, not to just be sitting there without anything interesting to see,” Kenny said. The Kramers will continue running their catering business, as well as a concession trailer that travels to different events. They have operated their catering business for five years and will continue to do so.Kenny and Mary said that they would love to see new customers come in and take a look, whether to simply check out the antiques and other “old stuff” or to try out a sandwich or the salad bar. For those on the go, carry-out is available, and delivery will be available beginning Monday. In addition to the 13 part-time employees of the restaurant, one of the four members of the Kramer family is always on hand in Kramer’s Kitchen, whether cooking, serving or just chatting with customers. It seems well-fitting that they are there, since it is Kramer’s Kitchen.“Come eat with the Kramers,” Mary said. “One of us is always here.”Kramer’s Kitchen is located at 421 S. Main St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The restaurant is closed on Sunday.

The phone number for carry-out or delivery is (815) 872-2715.
